Do you read parenting books? I do…. a lot. But I’ve never read one like this before.
Our friends just published–Here Be Dragons. It’s a “non-parenting parenting book” (my description).
Here’s what I mean… They’ve written a book about family life. It’s honest, revealing, hilarious, deeply wise, and inspiring.
During their marriage, Annemarie and Ken tackled cross country moves, dad working long hours in dangerous parts of the world, having a medically fragile child, and living apart for long periods of time. Plus they’ve had moments of pure awe and delight watching their kids, enjoying a sunset, boat trips, and the lemonade stand in the front yard.
Annemarie and Ken have captured–in book form–all of the warmth that you got from your best friend on that day when you burned the toast, were 30 minutes late to drop the kids off at school, and forgot the meeting that you needed to go to. Remember it? It was the day when you secretly wanted to put your kids up for adoption, but you couldn’t because you were too busy killing the ants that were trying to take over your kitchen.
You can read this book and be reassured, feel not alone, and know that “this parenting thing” is going to get better because Annmarie and Ken have had that kind of crazy too. They’ve lived through it, cried and laughed about it… just like you and me.
Here’s an interview that we did with Annmarie and Ken.
And here’s where you can get their awesome book, Here Be Dragons!
