We can’t prevent our kids from going through tough times, but we can do our best to be the kind of parents that our kids will come to for help when tough things happen.
While our relationship with our children is certainly important, there are two other essential relationships we can help our kids cultivate to surround them with a circle of support.
Last week, Jason and I were on a retreat in Costa Rica and we talked with another couple about how to support our kids through tough times. I made our conversation into a short video for you.
I used rock climbing as a metaphor in the video because Jason and I are climbers (and so was this other couple), but even if climbing isn’t your thing–this is an important parenting conversation you don’t want to miss.
Pura Vida!
After you watch the video, we’d love to hear what ideas you have for how to develop a circle of support around your child. Leave them in the comment section below!
